Adapt San Pedro

IMG_4014This Group is headed up by Tim Clarke and is for the more strenuous walkers with a sense of adventure.

Adventure Hill Walks are not for the unfit, nor for people who are unused to strenuous or loose footing condition ascents and descents. Although not climbing, on some walks a continuous, gradual walking ascent of up to 300 metres on rough but established route pathways is possible. However, our walks can sometimes have very little ascent or descent.  We do not stray from established paths. The descent can be quite hazardous at times due to loose stones. Walks may be circuitous or out and back the same route.

There have been injuries in the past, with some needing urgent medical attention, and no doubt there will continue to be injuries. These walks are just like following friends into town or strolling around with them – except for the increased risk of falling down. If someone stumbles, slides, trips and falls down, it’s not anyone else’s fault. There is obvious personal risk involved during any walk so anyone coming on these walks must accept this.

Anyone wishing to go on these walks should ensure they sign the ADAPT Disclaimer Form at the Monthly Meeting, or at the Walk Meeting Point.

Overall travel time to actual walk start may be up to 1.5 hours. In many cases, you should plan a whole day. We advise  if lunch will be a Picnic or Menu Del Dia (MDD) at an identified restaurant. We simply call in to the restaurant before walk start and reserve tables according to numbers. MDD costs are typically 10-15 Euros, but no one is obliged to have an MDD.

Sensible walkers will ensure enough water, food, firm shoes, hiking sticks, sun protection, insect protection and applicable weather protection clothing, as well as EHIC or Spanish Health cards. Taking a first aid kit with you would also make sense, as would a mobile telephone.

VERY IMPORTANT

You must provide a Spanish telephone number in case we have to cancel the walk for any reason. Contact Tim  Click here for his direct email and advise if you are going on the walk and provide your telephone number. If we do not have your number, you will arrive at the meeting point disappointed to find no one else there.
