Adapt meeting October 2019

The Flamenco Rosa Dragon Boat group visiting the Adapt monthly meeting. This is probably Adapt’s first selfie!

Last Saturday 5th October, the ADAPT association celebrated their monthly meeting with a visit from Flamenco Rosa, the first Dragon Boat BCS -Brest Cancer Survivors- team in Spain. In a moving speech, the group of lady paddlers told the story of the team, created by Jan Collins in 2016, and explained the benefits of doing this sport. They also told us about their new project for the future, an ACS (Any Cancer Survivors) team in the Mar Menor area. They invited everybody to the IV Intercontinental Dragon boat Festival SPAIN – Jan Collins Memorial, which will take place in Torrevieja, at the International Marina on the 19th and 20th October.

Adapt President, Michael Pudney, talked about the terrible recent floods and updated members on the program of activities like Strolling Group and our eighth annual pantomime. Denis Gill, the director of Adapt Christmas Choir, presented the schedule of their rehearsals and performances this season, and Jane Cronin gave a speech about the Carnival Group, which has a proven track since 2009, from “Guiris” to “Prawns”, in the Carnival Parade of San Pedro del Pinatar.

At the next meeting the Spangles Ladies Harmony Chorus will delight us with their beautiful voices on 2nd November at 10:30 am at Hogar del Pensionista, in Lo Pagán (San Pedro del Pinatar). We are always open to more volunteers to join our Christmas Choir, Carnival Group and Spanish/English Conversation Meetings.
