Adapt San Pedro

Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty, supported as ever by the students of Galway Academy

The latest pantomine performed in Spanish and English by the ADAPT Theatre group was Sleeping Beauty. As ever, the pantomime had an interesting twist at the end with Prince Charming preferring to play football and Princess Aurora more interested in celebrating her 116th birthday. The pantomime was a complete sell-out for the four performances and raised over 2000 euros for local charities. We were delighted to have with us once more a group of children from Las Esperanzas primary school who danced and acted as courtiers like real professionals. We’re now busy thinking about this year’s pantomime which promises to be another great success.

Cinderella

Jane Cronin’s adaptation of Cinderella was creative, funny and brought up-to-date with fairy godmother arriving on stage on a mobility scooter with her assistant bluebell. Cinderella lost her mobile phone instead of a slipper at the ball and her transport was a skate board.  The performance was interspersed with dancing, video and the all-important audience participation.

The pantomime is spoken in English and in Spanish and all three performances were sold out. It is a firm favourite with the Spanish community.

This year they raised 2290.00 euros for needy families in the San Pedro del Pinatar area.

Cinderella

The Theatre Group are currently rehearsing for this year’s pantomime Cinderella which will be performed in English and Spanish.

Performances will be on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd December 2017 at the Casa de la Culture, San Pedro del Pinatar. Tickets cost €3 each.

ADAPT Toy Story

Jane Cronin brilliantly ADAPT ed Toy Story into a ‘traditional ‘ Pantomime andthe characters and costumes brought it to life with a comic story line interspersed with dancing, video, the all important audience participation and even a spaceship drone for Buzz Lightyear.

Performed in English and in Spanish. All three  performances were sold out. The ADAPT Pantomime is a firm favourite with the San Pedro del Pinatar Spanish community and the dress rehearsal is always presented to children from a local school.

Toy Story was a huge success and raised much needed funds which are used throughout the year to buy food for El Samaritano charity.

Moody Poopins

This year´s show was slightly different in that it was a diversion from the traditional Pantomime theme.
Moody Poopins was a comedy version of Mary Poppins and with the script in both English and Spanish to accommodate the growing Spanish audience who through ADAPT are learning to love our strange tradition of Pantomime.Moody and Bert

Jane Cronin the scriptwriter and director also played the part of Bert, the Chimney sweep. The production was produced and co-directed by Eric Berg who was Moody Poopins and what a fine specimen of woman she was.  There were some very funny sketches including a hilarious ´Cookery Demonstration´which the children throughly enjoyed, as well as videos of Moody , Bert and the children on outings to the park (Park of Nations) and to London ( La Zenia Boulevard).

The Technicians and Backstage Crew excelled as always with the highlight being a very lifelike Moody Poopins figure who ´flew´ in across the audience to much laughter and applause.

Respect must go to the whole cast and crew who put in a lot of time and effort to bring a very entertaining show each year which raises much needed funds for San Pedro Charities. This year´s Panto has raised 1,758 euros.

A special mention too to the children and teachers of Las Esperanzas School who charmed us with their dancing.

Rehearsals begin

The good news is that after our appeal for more Volunteers, the 2015 Pantomime is now proceeding and has registered its rehearsals and performance programme with the Town Hall.

Anyone interested in joining the Pantomime this year should contact Eric at ericberg2@hotmail.com. You do not need experience. You can be on the stage or behind the scenes, helping with costumes and scenery or you can help create the costumes and scenery before the show. Your help will be greatly appreciated in our efforts to raise as much as we can for charity this year.
