As in previous years, Adapt members’ collection of small brown coins the “Tonne of Money” project, along with a generous donation from the Adapt Metal Detecting group, has been spent on essential basic school materials to help out at local primary schools. The scheme has been extended this year in view of the increasing difficulties being experienced by local families, many of whom have lost income through Covid 19, last year’s flooding and the Mar Menor catastrophe.
Unlike in the UK, families in Spain are expected to provide all the materials needed for their children to study, including in many cases their text books. For several years now Adapt has contributed exercise books, folders, pencils, crayons, pens, sharpeners, rubbers etc. all of which are greatly needed and put to good use.
Because of social distancing Celia was not able to go into Las Esperanzas or Los Antolinos school which sent us these delightful photographs.
